We had a lovely meal of chilli bean things in tortilla wraps. I did a lovely veggie chilli, and a hotter conversion of bolognaise sauce by adding kidney beans and slightly too much chilli powder. It wasn't that successful for the babies, as the chilli mixes were too sploshy to pick up, and the tortilla was dull. They were tired, any way.
Poor Jonathan found the meat chilli too hot, and started rubbing his eyes, hands covered in chilli sauce. He cried and he cried. We ended up giving them both a spoonful of creme fraiche to suck, which seemed to sort it out. I am amazed at how quickly they recover from these things.

Weetabix for breakfast
We had Weetabix and fruit for breakfast. It took me the full 45-minute morning nap time to clear up the debris. I wanted to take a shower, but haven't even managed to get dressed yet.

Has it come to this?
We went to Asda on the Isle of Dogs today. Don't worry, it's not likely to be a regular activity - it baffled me, and the baby clothes were in such disarray, we couldn't really find anything useful.
Curry brilliance!
Last night we had a tremendous success with a chicken curry. Jonathan ate and ate and ate. Having got his tummy nice and full with curry and milk, he didn't wake for a dream feed, and slept from 8pm to 6.45am! This is a first for us.
To be precise, it was Anjum's black maharastra chicken thighs, accompanied by a spicy mixture of fennel, onions and frozen spinach, together with Thai jasmine rice (we have a surfeit of it) and cucumber raita.

A good day - fruit and yoghurt breakfast and a happy family supper
Breakfast today was greek yoghurt, clementines, crinkle-cut slices of pear and banana. I was impressed by how well they coped with the clementines - thought they'd be too tricky, and just roll onto the floor. I gave the yoghurt on spoons. Only Abigail got the hang of this; Jonathan just spread it around.
I didn't feed them lunch as we were out in a posh hotel lounge, and I chickened out of the mess and coping with them both. Managed to persuade them both to nap in their buggy so I could eat in peace.
Supper was a sausage and lentil casserole. They had about 5cm of cumberland sausage, some crinkle-cut fennel and carrot slices, and some lentilly, tomatoey sauce. All very successful, very popular. For afters, there was a trifle Hungerpang had made last night. We were amazed at how much better they can pick up tinned peach slices than they could at Christmas. And H and I managed to have proper conversations over our food, so it felt like a real family dinner.

eggs, avocado, prawns and peppers
breakfast: hard-boiled eggs and toast and orange segments
Eggs in half marginally more successful, but all too bouncy and crumbly. Might be better to find some eggs really unlikely to have salmonella and take the risk in cooking them less. Orange always good.
lunch: avocado with prawn cocktail, cucumber and lettuce followed by baked peppers stuffed with a mushroom, borlotti bean and tomato mixture topped with cheese.
The avocado and prawns was very successful. Peppers served too hot, but we enjoyed them!

Breakfast with babies
Can be messy or very messy.
Weetabix, lightly turned in milk, is very successful, but results at other end mean should be used infrequently.
Porridge less successful so far, and very messy.
Less messy can be fruit:
Dried apricots, dates, pineapple slices, slices of pear, orange segments, papaya.
